A Personal Web Package is a process in Expression Web where you can export or "package" a website with all of accompanying files and folders so that someone else can import the package into their website. Some of the DWT's available for download are in the form of a Personal Web Package (with fwp file extension).
To start, download the web package of your choice to your computer. Remember the location you save the download to.
Click on the Download button on the template you wish to use > Choose Save File > Click OK
Save the File to your Desktop (or where you will remember where it is).
The file will be named name-of-template.fwp
Detailed instructions using EW 4.0
Site > New Site
General > Empty Web Site
Specify the location of the New Website > Type the name of the new site > Click OK
Your New Site will be created in Expression Web and opened
With your website open, on the Site menu, point to import, and then click Import from Web Package
In the File Open dialog box, locate and click the package you want, and then click Open. You will receive a Security Warning which you can ignore > Click Run
The files will be imported into your site to a folder with the same name as the template name.
N.B. If you are comfortable doing so, you may import just the files from the web package rather than the entire folder.
If you import the personal web package folder, you will need to move all of the associated files and folders to your root directory.
Highlight the images folder and drag the folder to your root directory,
Highlight the includes folder and drag the folder to your root directory.
Highlight the files and drag them to the root directory.
You can hold down the shift key and highlight the first and last file and drag them all at once to your root directory.
Having moved all of the files and folders to your root directory, you may now delete your web package folder.
If you are working with a language other than US English, you will need to make a change in the language meta tag from <meta content="en-us" http-equiv="Content-Language" > to the language you are using.
Each of the templates is written with an XHTML Transitional doctype and both the css and template validate. If you make changes to the dwt and/or the css file, you should revalidate both files.
